What position are you running for: President

Platform:

“I am excited to run for president of the Accounting and Finance Student Association (AFSA) because I see immense potential for the organization to better serve and empower students within the School of Accounting and Finance (SAF). As the former president of the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association (WUSA), I bring extensive leadership experience and strong connections that can help AFSA achieve its goals.

My vision for AFSA focuses on four key priorities. First, I aim to improve the timeliness and accessibility of elections, ensuring that the process is fair, transparent, and takes place during the time outlined in the AFSA constitution. Second, I will make it a priority to have the AFSA budget publicly available on the website, as transparency and accountability are essential for maintaining trust with the student body, this is something that has not been done since 2016. Third, I want to strengthen AFSA’s governance by implementing clear policies and structures to ensure decisions are made in the best interests of all students, and ensuring that we are meeting the current requirement outlined in the constitution and by-laws, including making the meeting minutes available on the website.

Lastly, I am passionate about creating more opportunities for students to engage with both AFSA and SAF, whether through leadership roles, events, or new initiatives. By fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusion, AFSA can better support students’ personal and professional growth. My experience leading WUSA has equipped me with the skills and network needed to address these priorities effectively and leave a positive, lasting impact on the AFSA community.
